These Strawberry Lavender Milkshakes are bursting with spring flavors! They’re made with fresh strawberries, dried lavender, and topped with homemade whipped cream.
These Strawberry Lavender Milkshakes are ultra creamy and packed with bright flavors. We took a traditional strawberry milkshake and gave it a spring twist by adding a bit of dried lavender.
It gives the milkshake a floral and slightly citrusy flavor that pairs really well with fresh strawberries. We also added some strawberry jam at the bottom of the glass to give it a pretty layered look and more strawberry flavor.
If you really want to get fancy with it, replace the jam in this recipe with some Strawberry Champagne Preserves.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Perfect for Springtime: The floral taste from the lavender combined with fresh strawberries make this dessert taste like spring in a cup!
- Strawberry Jam/Preserves: The extra bit of strawberry jam in the glass elevates the look and taste of these milkshakes. If you like chunks of fruit in yours, use preserves instead.
- Homemade Whipped Cream: We like to go all out and make our own whipped cream. It makes just the right amount so you’re not left with a huge glob at the bottom of the cup.
Ingredient Notes
Ingredient quantities are listed in the recipe card below. Here you’ll find notes on why we chose certain ingredients as well as any substitutions.
- Strawberries: You’ll need 8 oz of fresh whole strawberries.
- Dried Culinary Lavender: A little bit goes a long way so we don’t recommend adding any more than what’s in the recipe. We got our bag of lavender from Amazon.
- Whole Milk: Whole milk is best if you want to get that ultra rich milkshake consistency.
- Vanilla Ice Cream: We don’t recommend substituting it with non-dairy ice cream as it won’t have the same creaminess and thick consistency.
- Heavy Cream: Cold cream straight from the fridge is best since it whips up faster and better.
- Powdered Sugar: For lightly sweetening the whipped cream.
- Pure Vanilla Extract: You’ll need just a bit (⅛ tsp) for the cream.
Step-by-Step Instructions
STEP 1: Make the whipped cream. Add the cold cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract to a bowl and whip on high speed with a hand mixer until soft and fluffy.
STEP 2: Prep the strawberries. Wash and hull the strawberries then cut them into large chunks.
STEP 3: Place everything in a blender. In a high-speed blender, add the strawberries, lavender, milk, and ice cream. Blend until thick and creamy.
STEP 4: Pour into a glass. Before you add your strawberry lavender milkshakes to a glass, line each glass with 1 tbsp of strawberry jam or preserves.
Top your milkshakes with the homemade whipped cream, fresh strawberries, and a sprinkle of dried lavender.
Expert Tip
Chill your glasses. Place your milkshake glasses in the freezer for 5-10 minutes so they’re nice and frosty when you take them out. This will help to keep the milkshakes cooler for longer.
FAQ
Yes, your milkshakes might be a bit thicker though. If they’re too thick, add a splash of milk to thin it out.
You can add a bit more ice cream or replace the milk with heavy cream to get an even thicker consistency.
Storage
These strawberry lavender milkshakes are best enjoyed fresh, but you can freeze them if you want. Pour the milkshakes (without the whipped cream) into an ice cube tray and store in the freezer. Let the cubes thaw for a few minutes then re-blend when ready to serve.

- ¼ cup (60 ml) whole milk
- ½ tsp dried culinary lavender
- 6 large scoops (260 g) vanilla ice cream (9 oz)
- 2 tbsp strawberry jam or preserves
Instructions
- Make the whipped cream by adding the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract to a bowl. Beat with an electric hand mixer on high speed until soft and fluffy. Set aside in the fridge.
- Wash and hull the strawberries then cut into large chunks.
- Add the strawberries, milk, dried lavender, and vanilla ice cream to a high speed blender. Blend until smooth and creamy.
