Ingredients

Roasted Banana Hojicha Latte

  • ½ large banana sliced lengthwise from a whole banana
  • Ground cinnamon
  • ¾ cup (180 ml) whole milk
  • 2 tsp hojicha powder sifted
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) hot water NOT boiling

Salted Vanilla Cream

  • 2 tbsp whole milk
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
  • Generous pinch of flaky sea salt
  • ¼ tsp vanilla bean paste
  • 2 tsp light agave nectar

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C) and line a small baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Place the banana half cut side up on the baking sheet and sprinkle the top with cinnamon. Bake for 20 minutes.
  • Let the banana cool for at least 5 minutes then place it in a blender with the milk. Blend until just combined and set aside.
  • For the hojicha layer, whisk the hojicha powder and hot water in a small bowl until frothy.
  • In another small bowl, add the ingredients for the salted vanilla cream and use a handheld milk frother to blend for 1-2 minutes or until thickened.
  • Add a bit of ice to the bottom of a tall glass and pour in the banana milk followed by the hojicha tea. Finish it off with the salted vanilla cream and enjoy!
