This whipped za’atar feta is one of those dishes that looks fancy, but takes minimal effort (and ingredients) to make. And there’s so much flavor that you’ll be tempted to eat it by the spoonful. The spicy Aleppo chili oil is perfectly balanced with the briny flavors of the feta and the za’atar adds a touch of nuttiness that melds all the delicious flavors together.
You can serve this dish as an elegant appetizer with pita or pair it alongside a Middle Eastern style feast full of roasted or grilled meats and vegetables.

Ingredient Notes and Substitutions
Find the full list of ingredients, measurements, and instructions in the recipe card below!
- Feta Block: The block has more moisture than the crumbles and makes for a creamier dish.
- Greek Yogurt: We use full-fat Greek yogurt. This “loosens” the dip and makes it extra creamy.
- Za’atar: This earthy spice blend adds so much flavor and nuttiness. We like to sprinkle more on top of the final dish for even more za’atar flavor.
- Aleppo Pepper: You can use red pepper flakes but keep in mind that they’re spicier than Aleppo pepper.

2. Make the whipped feta. Add the feta, za’atar and other ingredients to a food processor and blend until smooth and creamy. Scrape down the processor as needed.
3. Serve. Transfer the whipped feta to a serving dish and spoon some of the chili oil on top. Sprinkle with za’atar and serve with fresh warm pita.
