If you’ve never had watermelon with salt before, we recommend giving it a try! The salt neutralizes any bitterness and enhances all those sweet, juicy flavors of the melon. It’s such a classic and delicious combination that we wanted to put in drink form to create a refreshing summer beverage.

This salted watermelon juice is super simple to make and is best served fresh alongside a grilled summer meal. For more refreshing summer drinks, try our Pineapple Hibiscus Fizz and this Virgin Pineapple Daiquiri.

    Ingredient Notes

The full list of ingredients and their quantities is in the recipe card below. Here you’ll find notes on specific ingredients as well as any substitutions.

    • Watermelon: We used about half of an 8 pound watermelon for this recipe.
    • Lime Juice: This brightens up the overall flavor of the juice.
    • Flaky Sea Salt: A touch of salt enhances the sweetness of the watermelon.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

This section provides a general overview as well as any pictures to guide you through the recipe. The full detailed recipe instructions are in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

Cubed watermelon with lime juice and flaky salt in a blender.

STEP 1: Add the ingredients to a blender. Cube the watermelon and add it to a large blender with the lime juice and salt. Blend for a few seconds until combined. Be careful not to let it run too long or the juice will produce too much foam.

STEP 2: Strain. Use a fine mesh sieve or nut milk bag to strain out the pulp and foam.

    Expert Tips

    • Use the best watermelon you can find. Look for a big yellow spot as well as any webbing or striations. A good watermelon should also be matte on the outside.
    • Serve immediately. Even after a few hours in the fridge, the juice will start to separate and lose its vibrant flavor, so it’s best served fresh.
