Ingredient Notes
Ingredient quantities are listed in the recipe card below. Here you’ll find notes on why we chose certain ingredients as well as any substitutions.
- Espresso: We always recommend using high-quality ingredients, especially when it comes to espresso. We use this Lavazza Crema e Aroma.
- Honey: You’ll need 2 tsp.
- Vanilla Bean Paste: Vanilla bean paste has a more robust flavor than vanilla extract. However, if you don’t have any on hand, the extract will do.
- Flaky Sea Salt: Just a pinch is all you need to amplify the flavors in the drink. Trust us, it makes a huge difference!
- Oat Milk: We use Oatly, but you can use whatever brand you like best.
Kitchen Equipment
Expert Tip
Add the honey into the espresso right away. The warmth of freshly pulled espresso helps to dissolve the honey. If you stir it in after the ice has been added, it will seize up and form clumps in your latte.
FAQ
Drip coffee doesn’t have the same full-bodied flavor that espresso has and is more acidic. And while it’s not the best option, you can use ¼ cup (60 ml) of strongly brewed coffee in place of the 2 shots of espresso.
It’s easier to over-salt your drink with fine sea salt which is why we prefer to use flakes. If you use fine granules, start with a smaller amount then add a tiny bit more until it fits to your liking.

Wow, yummy! So simple yet so good! I made the x2 version because I need my 4 shots lol. But I used vanilla extract since I don’t have vanilla bean paste. I really loved how this drink is a subtle sweetness because I don’t like my lattes too sweet. So this was great! Will definitely be one of my new go-to drinks for sure 🙂
